Friends of Shoal Harbour Launches 2026 Water Tours

The Friends of Shoal Harbour (FOSH) is once again inviting the public to explore the Shoal Harbour Migratory Bird Sanctuary and surrounding waters through a series of guided boat tours this spring, summer, and fall.

Now in their third year, the 90-minute tours travel through Tsehum Harbour and Roberts Bay at the north end of the Saanich Peninsula, giving participants an opportunity to learn about the history and ecological importance of the Shoal Harbour Migratory Bird Sanctuary, established in 1931 to protect migratory birds and their habitat.

Guests will have the chance to observe a variety of seabirds and other marine wildlife while learning about the many environmental challenges facing the Sanctuary, including shoreline deterioration, water quality issues, and abandoned vessels.

Tours are provided aboard an enclosed 12-passenger vessel operated by Sea Star EcoCruising. All proceeds support the ongoing conservation and stewardship work of the Friends of Shoal Harbour.
