Despite the rain and a no show by the Bufflehead ducks, the annual All Buffleheads Day celebration was still quite successful. Approximately 30 people showed up with their umbrellas and binos on Oct. 14th and heard from a variety of speakers including Mavis Underwood, Elder, Tsawout First Nation, Vicky Husband, a long-term conservation advocate and a recipient of the Order of Canada and Order of BC, and Bob Peart, Chair of the Friends of Shoal Harbour which hosted the event.
The event closed with a song led by Farrell Boyce, one of the founders of the Friends.
